" Floor standing display units are a great way to grab your customers attention. This concept can be easily adapted to fit magazines and books." http://www.bladenbox.com/- Grabs the customers attention
- Advertises your logo and brand on display
I've started started off by looking at this concept, it informs me that floor standing display units are a popular method for P.O.S as it is easy to catch the customers attention which should help the distribution of the product.
This design can also give me the idea of advertising the product through a logo or in my case the title of my book. Weather its a novel or encyclopedia.
In my case its going to be an encyclopedia based on architecture which examines the cosmetic surgery of it, in other words the refurbishing or rebuilding of it.
This still links back to cosmetics therefore still informing the brief, although the idea for my book isn't about the cosmetics for human but the cosmetics for buildings. It still references that word so the concept is valid and lateral because it isn't typical and based on the human anatomy.
I think the concept for my book will hopefully help strongly in the development of my design for the P.O.S

To finnish off, i experimented with the Bluring effect, the one above being LENS BLUR. This leaves a white contrast ontop of the undertone, which adds more depth to the colours . I then elaborated with the noise tool to give it a more static texture. Lastly i added typeography then blended it in using the opacity. This leaves a more thorough visual.Monday, 25 January 2010

Biography
Orlan is the radical French artist responsible for the Carnal Art movement, which seeks to open the debate about surgical body modification in an advanced consumer capitalist society obsessed with unattainable beauty standards. Since her first piece, entitled Operation, Orlan has been using her own body as a medium by undergoing a series of plastic surgeries staged as performance art. Her ongoing evolution is aimed at transforming her body based on classical beauty ideals from the history of Western art, along with images created from her own imagination and software. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, All Movie Guide
Adnan:
I've started off with looking at the works of Orlan to gain visual references about the human anatomy which could possibly help me with my POS UNIT. Shapes and forms of the human body could inform my ideas and inspiration. This will obviously have some reflection on cosmetics as the body links to it. Therefore i find my research relevant.
